Clubs
- The Speech Team (Forensics Team) is an
intercollegiate competition team that represents Jefferson State
throughout the Southeast. Students compete in any of 14 different types
of speeches or dramatic events. All Jefferson State students are
encouraged to participate. The top students represent Jefferson State
Community College at the national competition where Jefferson State
traditionally places in the top 10.

- The Writer's Round Table provides a friendly and
supportive atmosphere for students, faculty, and alumni of Jefferson
State Community College who have a desire to write creatively. Both
novices and experienced writers are invited. Works could include but are
not limited to fiction, nonfiction, drama, and poetry. Members are
invited to share ideas and information. They will help select
submissions, create the layout, and edit Jefferson State's literary
magazine Wingspan.

Publications
Wingspan
Jefferson State's two publications, written and compiled by students, are
published through the Communications Division. Wingspan is an annual
literary and visual arts publication of Jefferson State Community College in
Birmingham, Alabama. Its purpose is to act as a creative outlet for
students, faculty, alumni and residents of the surrounding area, thus
encouraging and fostering an appreciation for the creative process.
Call For Submissions
Wingspan continuously accepts submissions in both English and Spanish.
(Please include a English translation for Spanish works.)
Submissions are accepted 2 ways.

lovinguth@jeffstateonline.com. Your writing must be attached as a MS
Word document or Rich Text format. Put WINGSPAN in the subject line of
your email so that it may be categorized properly.
