Landscape Technology
Why Landscape Technology?
Do you like to be outdoors? Do you enjoy gardening? Do you have an
artistic flair and an interest in designing garden spaces? Would you
like to own your own landscaping company or perhaps work in the sports
turf industry? You can do this and more with a degree in Landscape
Technology from Jefferson State Community College.
Career opportunities include positions as landscape supervisors, nursery
managers, landscape contractors, and landscape designers. This program
will also serve to expand the knowledge and skills of persons already
working in the field and give the student enough knowledge and
experience to establish a private landscape, grounds maintenance,
nursery or greenhouse business.

Become a part of one of the fastest growing fields today—become part of
the 'Green” Industry.
Landscape Technology is a field of study designed to give students an
understanding of the principles, techniques and skills necessary for
employment in the horticulture field. Our programs provide students with
a mix of academic and practical training that will prepare them to enter
the workforce or advance in their current career. We offer both a
certificate, as well as, an Associate Degree in Applied Science.
Certificate Program
The Landscape Technology Certificate can be earned in one of three major
areas—the Landscape Design Track, the Landscape Technician Track or the
Sports Turf Technician Track. Each of these tracks are designed to
provide the landscape industry with properly trained individuals who are
certified by the State of Alabama to work in the field of their choice.
A total of 26 semester hours are required to earn a Certificate. All
credit work earned in the Certificate program applied to the Associate
in Applied Science Degree.
Two-Year Associate Degree
The two-year Associate in Applied Science Degree can also be earned in
one of three major areas—the Landscape Horticulture Track (Design), the
Plant Production Track or the Turf grass Management Track. Each of these
tracks requires a total of 67 semester hours to complete. Graduates will
be certified by the State of Alabama to work in their field of choice.
