RN Application Process

Students wishing to apply to the Nursing Education Program at Jefferson
State Community College should do the following:
Students wishing to apply to the Nursing Education Program at Jefferson
State Community College should do the following:
- Complete an Application for Admission to the college.
RN Applications are
available online by clicking here, on the Jefferson
campus in Allen Library 101or at the Shelby-Hoover Campus, General
Studies Building Information Desk.
- Request that official transcripts from all colleges or universities
attended be sent to Enrollment Services for evaluation.
- Take the math and English placement tests unless transfer credit is
awarded or ACT scores are less than three years old. Contact the Testing
Office for information about testing dates and time.
- Make an appointment with the Pre-Nursing Advisor to discuss a course
schedule and obtain further guidance in the application process.
- After eligibility for admission has been established, submit an
Application for Admission to Nursing Program before the appropriate
date. Applications are available in George Layton 107 on the Jefferson
campus and in the Nursing office on the 3rd floor of the Health Science
Building on the Shelby-Hoover Campus.
- Application deadlines are as follows:
Fall Classes May 12 4:30 pm
Spring Classes October 6th 4:30 pm
Summer Classes March 2nd 4:30 pm
In the event that the deadline date falls on a Saturday or Sunday,
applications will be accepted until 4:30 pm on the following Monday
only.
- After admission into the program, students are required to
provide proof of CPR certification at the health care provider level,
provide proof of hospitalization insurance, purchase uniforms and
liability insurance, submit medical information, and submit to a random
drug testing for chemical dependency. Background screens may be required
by agencies utilized for clinical learning experiences. Students may
contact the Student Development Office for information about a health
insurance policy for students.

advising sessions that are
guaranteed to answer all of your questions! 'NURSING ADVISING 101” is a
powerful opportunity for all Pre-Nursing students to meet with faculty,
advisors, and current nursing students who will show you how to apply, how
to increase your chances of being accepted, and other important facts about
the entire process.
You will learn about the available programs that are offered including
full time, part-time night and weekend (partnership with St. Vincent's),
starting in the fall. This meeting is a must for all students pursuing a
degree in nursing at Jefferson State Community College!
