Registration Information

Quick Reminders Before You Register

  • See your advisor  to select courses need.  Plan your schedule to include alternate courses.

  • Courses, times, days, and instructors is a tentative schedule and subject to change without notice. Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment. Students are encouraged to register early so that decisions regarding cancellation of classes may be made early enough to allow students to select other courses.

  • When registering online you will need your username and password. If you do not have these please email help@jeffstateonline.com during normal business hours you should receive a reply within 2 hours.

  • Registration is not complete until tuition and fees are paid in full. To insure that all students have an equal opportunity to enroll in class, students who are not paid in full are susceptible to being dropped from their courses at anytime. Payment is due at time of registration.

  • To receive a full refund you must completely withdraw before the first official day of classes for that semester, not the first day of your specific course. For information concerning a refund please contact the business office at (205) 856-7779.

  • Complete and course withdrawals cannot be processed on the Internet. You must withdraw in person at either campus or submit a written request with your signature to Enrollment Services. This must be done before the first day of classes to receive a refund.

  • Pay close attention to the course section that you choose. JSCC offers courses at  4 locations with day and evening classes. Please confirm the location of the courses for which you are registered. Also note that courses are offered at both campuses 8:00am and 8:00pm.  Be sure to register for the 8:00 am if you want a morning class or 8:00pm if you want an evening class.

  • Official transcripts are required from all Institutions attended before you are allowed to register for a SECOND semester. For Financial Aid purposes, ALL transcripts, including those from non-accredited schools, must be mailed directly from the sending institution and evaluated by JSCC before your FIRST semester. Faxed and hand delivered copies are not considered official.

  • Financial Aid will not be awarded unless all official transcripts and appropriate documentation (including In-House Paperwork) are on file before registering.  Previous Financial Aid received at other institutions will be reported by NSLDS.

  • "Holds" are placed on a student's record for traffic and library fines, returned checks and any other amounts owed to the College. Holds are also placed for admissions, student conduct and academic purposes. Holds must be removed before a student is allowed to register and may prevent release of a student's academic transcripts.

  • Any student parking on any campus will need to have a parking decal. Show your paid schedule bill to campus police at Jefferson Campus, Shelby-Hoover Campus, St. Clair-Pell City Center, and Chilton-Clanton Center to be issued a parking decal. More info...

Refund Information

Before the official first day of classes, students will receive a complete refund when withdrawing from the college.

During schedule adjustment when dropping and adding of individual classes are allowed, students may drop a course and receive a full refund for that course if the student has not completely withdrawn from school.

An administrative fee of 5 percent of tuition and other institutional charges will be assessed for withdrawal from college within the period beginning the first day of class and ending at the end of the third week of class. Students withdrawing from the college should refer to the prorated refund schedule listed below.

After the schedule adjustment period ends, students may receive a refund only if they completely withdraw from the college. Refer to the Refund Schedule for dates and amounts of refunds for regular, session I and II, and mini-term classes.
