CenterFinancial Aid - Call Center SpecificIn an effort to assist students who do not have the financial resources to pursue post-secondary education, Jefferson State offers financial assistance in the form of grants, loans, jobs, and scholarships for those who qualify. How do you apply? 1. Obtain a financial aid packet: a. On line via the Internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov. b. Visit the Jefferson State Financial Aid Office at the Jefferson or Shelby-Hoover Campus. c. Call the Financial Aid Office at (205) 856-8509. 2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is the first step in applying for grants, loans. Some federal financial aid funds are limited, and preference is given to students who apply prior to the beginning of the new award year which begins in August. Information on application deadlines can be located on the Financial Aid website. 3. Be sure to list Jefferson State CC (Federal School Code 0012022) in step six of the FAFSA. Failure to list the correct Federal School Code will result in a delay in the processing of your application. 4. Mail the FAFSA to the federal processing center in the envelope provided with the application. 5. If you have attended other colleges have those colleges send JSCC a financial aid transcript even though you may not have received financial aid to those colleges. 6. Be certain you have applied for admission or readmission to JSCC. For returning students, application for readmission must be submitted if you have not attended JSCC during the past two terms. The appropriate transcripts or GED must be on file. If you have attended other colleges, your transcripts must be evaluated before you can be awarded aid.
