Center for Labor Education and Research

Dear Friend of Labor Education:

You are probably already aware that the legislature has voted to deny CLEAR funding for the 2012 fiscal year which begins on October 1, 2011.  As a result we will be closing our doors permanently at 4:30 pm on September 30, 2011.  CLEAR has been fighting to save its funding on various fronts since

2008 and we have finally lost the battle.  On behalf of everyone at CLEAR I can honestly say that it has been a pleasure serving the organized labor community in Alabama and throughout the Southeast and we regret that we cannot continue to work with you.

Any questions, comments, requests for information or for referrals to labor education programs in nearby states should be sent to me directly by e-mail at rsuusa@aol.com or by phone at (205) 529-5086.  The Workplace Safety Training Program is not affected by our funding and will relocate to the Alabama Fire College later this year.  You can contact Kenney Oldfield the Director of the Workplace Safety Training program by phone at (205) 856-8041.

Thank you for 43 years of solidarity and support.

Marc Cryer

Director, CLEAR
