Question:
Can
parents talk with instructors about their children?
Answer:
Jefferson State complies with all FERPA (Family
Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974)
regulations, which provide that, for high school students, the parents share the right to access education
records. Once in college, however, the right to access education records
rests solely with the student. Because Dual Enrollment students fall in both categories,
instructors should obtain the consent of the student before disclosing the
student's education information to the parent. The high school
administration may, however, share information with the parent without the student's consent.

Question:
What
is the difference between Dual Enrollment classes and Advanced
Placement (AP) classes?
Answer:
Dual Enrollment
Courses are guaranteed to transfer to any public college in the
state of Alabama. Those students planning to transfer to
out-of-state or private colleges are encouraged to consult that
Admissions Office.
Advanced Placement
(AP) transferability depends on the policy of
each particular institution and what score that school will
accept in a particular course. Also, in Dual Enrollment the
student is tested by the person teaching the class rather than
having to take a standardized test.
