Local Government Leadership Center

Government Employee Training

The Local Government Leadership Center (LGLC) is a cooperative partnership between Jefferson State Community College and local governments in the Jefferson State service area. The partnership pools resources to provide more accessible and affordable training opportunities for employees of area city and county municipalities.  Local area governments, through their appointed representatives on the Curriculum Advisory Board of the Center, will help provide input and assistance in planning educational opportunities. A range of approaches may include seminars, skill workshops, and classroom instruction. Once a local government joins and becomes a Member of the Center, employees may enroll in other Jefferson State Continuing Education classes at a 10 percent discount. (Employees should check with their Personnel Department for qualifications.)

Local Government Benefits

  •  The seminars taught locally save money in travel, per diem, employee time away, administrative hassles, convenience of training.

  •  This program offers world-class employee leadership development seminars.

  • The Center is housed, secured, maintained, with free accessible parking on campus.

Locations of LGLC seminars and workshops vary depending on members’ needs and available classroom/lab space.  Classes are typically held on Jefferson State’s Jefferson and Shelby campuses, or on-site at an agency or municipality’s meeting space.
