The Jefferson State Student Government Association serves and represents the student body by working toward the betterment of the college, providing leadership training, taking part in community projects and by other activities which promote a sense of loyalty and school spirit.

Forming a Chapter of Sigma Chi Eta

Come join and be a charter member! Jefferson State is forming a chapter of Sigma Chi Eta, which is the honor society of the National Communication Association for two year/community college institutions.

The purpose of Sigma Chi Eta is to promote outstanding academic achievement in the communication discipline. Students interested in speech, mass communication and theatre are encouraged to attend an interest meeting on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 6:30 in GSB 200 on the Shelby-Hoover Campus.

For membership, students must have completed 12 semester hours and have a mininum 3.0 GPA. In addition, members must have taken 9 semester hours of communication-related courses such as English composition, speech, theatre or mass communication and have a 3.25 in those courses.
