Jefferson State Lady Pioneers Return from PeruFor the 4th consecutive year, Head Coach Cammie Hallmark, and members of the Jeff State women’s fast pitch softball team recently returned from a 10 day trip to Peru. Through the USA Athletes International Organization, players were chosen to represent the United States in international competition along with conducting camps and clinics designed to help teach and promote the game of fast pitch softball in Peru.
The relationship we have developed with Peru over the past four years is just amazing. Not only is the level of competition increasing but the interest in women's softball is growing tremendously with new teams being created even in remote parts of the country. We hope to continue the relationship between Jefferson State and Peru for many years to come.”, Coach Hallmark. “I think the clinics are as important and certainly as much fun as the competitions. The kids there are so eager to learn and seem to never get enough. It is an experience of a lifetime!”, Sophomore AJ Oliver. During their free time, the team traveled 13000 feet above sea level to Cuzco Peru where they had an opportunity to visit the Sacred Valley, Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu. Having the opportunity to stand on top of Machu Pichu with my players and see the amazement in their faces is one of the greatest experiences in my coaching career.
