Administrative Medical Assistant Certification
Administrative Medical Assistants find career opportunities in the offices of general medical and surgical hospitals, physicians, chiropractors, outpatient care centers and many other medical facilities. The many responsibilities include a strong combination of knowledge of automated medical equipment and patient care, as well as an understanding of medical office protocols. All of these factors have combined to create a huge potential job market for qualified Administrative Medical Assistants. This course will provide you with the skill set and expertise that will make you irresistible to prospective health care employers. This career training will introduce students to topics such as medical terminology, privacy and risk management. The course will cover medical insurance billing and coding with emphasis placed on the use of computers in the medical office, telephone techniques, and the importance of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance. Upon successful completion of the Administrative Medical Assistant Certification Preparation course, students will be prepared for entry level positions handling front office responsibilities in a medical office setting.
Certified Nursing Assistant Preparation $899
Certified nursing assistants (CNAs), also known as nurses' aides, orderlies, work under the supervision of a nurse to provide assistance to patients. CNAs are responsible for basic care services such as bathing, grooming and feeding patients, assisting nurses with medical equipment, and checking patient vital signs. This class will prepare you to take the Alabama Certification Exam.
Clinical Medical Assistant Preparation $1,695
Clinical Medical Assistants may be called upon to perform direct medical duties under the supervision of a physician such as: collect and prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic laboratory tests on the premises, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments. They instruct patients about medications and special diets, prepare and administer medications, as directed by a physician, authorize drug refills as directed, telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy, draw blood, prepare patients for x-rays, take electrocardiograms, remove sutures, and change dressings In addition, they perform many administrative duties, including answering telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing patients’ medical records, filing out insurance forms, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admission and laboratory services and handling billing and bookkeeping. This class will prepare you to take the Alabama Certification Exam.
Dental Assistant $1,199
Dental Assistant is one of the top most-growing careers of today. This program will teach you the skills needed to work in a dental office as an entry-level dental assistant, receptionist, front-office assistant or back-office assistant. Some topics include dental terminology, disinfection and sterilization, dental anatomy, dental records and charting, instrumentation, and front desk responsibilities. Must be at least 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or GED required. Thursday evening classes meet at a local dental office for lab and clinical work. (22 sessions)
Dialysis Technician $999
Dialysis Technicians, also called Hemodialysis or Renal Dialysis Technicians, operate kidney dialysis machines, which filter normal waste products and excess fluids from the blood of patients whose kidneys can no longer perform this function. Dialysis Technicians are responsible for direct patient care. Under the direction of senior technicians, nurses and doctors, Dialysis Technicians play a vital role as part of the team. Duties can include: initiate, monitor, and discontinue dialysis treatments for the rental failure patient. The demand continues to grow at a steady pace due to an aging population resulting in an increase in kidney disease. This 50-hour program provides students with knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties required of Dialysis Technicians.
EKG Technician $999
This comprehensive EKG Technician Program prepares students to function as EKG Technicians. This course will include important practice and background information on anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, electrocardiography and stress testing. Additionally, students will practice with EKG equipment and perform hands on labs including introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement and other clinical practices. Pharmacy Technician Certification Prep Program $899
This course will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and for national certification. Students will learn to interpret, label, file, and prepare prescriptions. Phlebotomy Certification Prep $999
This 200-hour program will train individuals in a classroom lecture and clinical setting to become certified phlebotomists. Physical Therapy Aide $799
You’ll work under the supervision of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. You can work in a hospital, outpatient rehabilitation clinic, physical therapy office, personal care facility, or with a home health agency. This 12 week class will teach you the role of the physical therapy aide in patient recovery, medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, common physical disorders, common physical therapy treatments such as exercise and mobility training, much more. Bank Teller’s Certification Academy – On-line $595

Insurance Systems of Alabama in coordination with Jefferson State Community College is offering a high-tech on-line Life, Health, and Disability and Property-Casualty pre-license course. The courses will allow a student to have access to Insurance System's written material while actually listening to a veteran Insurance Systems instructor lecturing the fine points of the material. This is done by use of the most modern Web-CT support base used by Jefferson State Community College. Students will be able to ask questions via the Web-CT to the instructor, and receive timely answers. Students can also chat with other students that might be taking the course. From date of registration, you will have two months to complete the course. All of this can be done on your own time and at the location of your choosing.
