Veterinary Technology

Admissions

Admission into the Veterinary Technology Program is based on a "Priority System", in which applicants are considered depending upon educational background, work experience and references from veterinarians and educators.

The following are priority standards for admission into the Veterinary Technology Program:

Priority I - Fill Class Seats 1 st

  • Completion of all general education courses

  •  360+hours of practical experience working/volunteering in a veterinary practice

  • All Application Requirements are complete

Priority II - Fill Class Seats 2 nd

  • Either completion of general education courses or 360+ hours of clinical experience, or partial completion of both

  • All Application Requirements are complete

Priority III - Fill Class Seats Last (If available)

  • General education courses not completed

  • No work experience

  • All Application Requirements are complete

Priority I students are preferred applicants, due to the fact that all general education requirements have been completed, which means they are free to dedicate their time strictly to the Veterinary Technology curriculum. This is a very important factor to consider in preventing students from taking on a heavier course load than they are capable of handling academically. Another element to consider is the 360+ hours of clinical work experience. Students who have been exposed to the field of Veterinary Medicine have a deeper understanding of what is expected of them in this field, and we feel this helps better prepare the student for the two years ahead of them once they begin our program. Completion of the above requirements certifies eligibility, but in no way implies or guarantees admission into the Veterinary Technology Program. Acceptance into the program is at the sole discretion of the Program admissions committee.

Enrollment is limited to students who have fulfilled all application requirements necessary for the Veterinary Technology Program. [Application] New Students are accepted in both fall and spring semesters. Once selections for  starting class have been made by the Program’s Admission Committee, accepted students will receive written notification of their status and details concerning registration and student orientation. Students will not be allowed to register for Veterinary Technology classes until all necessary paperwork is completed.
